Could you tell us a little bit about
yourself?
I have been in the entertainment field for most of my adult life in one
form or another. I began as a singer/songwriter and hosted a satellite
talent showcase in Alabama through a company called Fast Track To Fame.
We eventually moved out of Alabama and began hosting talent competitions
across the United States for the same company. After years on the road I
began my family and decided I needed to do something that would allow me to
spend more time at home with my family and began writing fiction. I'm the
mother of five wonderful children who are a source of great inspiration and
love.
Describe your book ‘A Night at Tears
of Crimson’ in 30 words or less.
Escape into the world of the supernatural with this romantic tale.
Follow Cara Faith Donovan as she discovers there’s more to
New Orleans than the myths and legends behind vampires.
What was the hardest part of writing
your book?
Time management was the hardest part in bringing my book to life.
As a mother of five, finding time outside my hectic schedule is always a
challenge.
What books have had the greatest
influence on you?
There is actually an amusing story behind this answer. As a young
girl my grandmother received Harlequin romances, the subscription that sent you
four small romance books a month. Of course I was not supposed to read
these since I was only 8 or 9 at the time. I would sneak these little
romance books into my play tent and read every line. I can’t remember the
author’s names but I read every single one that came in the mail and wanted to
be just like them when I grew up. Needless to say they left a huge
impression on my young mind and I always expected prince charming to ride up on
his white horse and sweep me off my feet one day. As for authors that I
enjoy today, I would have to say my two favourites are Charlaine Harris and JR
Ward.
Briefly share with us what you do to
market your book?
My main marketing is done via twitter. Press releases are also a
big help and setting up book signings so that you get the opportunity to get to
know your readers.
How do you spend your time when you
are not writing?
When I'm not writing I'm usually with my family or promoting my book on
the road.
What are you working on next?
Currently I'm working on the sequel to "A Night at Tears of
Crimson" which I will release in June of 2012.
