John Sparger was born and raised in Southern Illinois and still lives less than a tank of gas from his old stomping grounds. At sixteen he began performing in rock bands and later, rock operas... anywhere he could scream without getting handcuffed.

He spent his 20s riding around the country on several motorcycles, living in different cities, working a number of odd jobs. Always searching for something that meant a damn.

His 30s found him settling in and starting a family. Fast living replaced by rabid writing. A rebel turned raconteur, the experiences of the past became the stories of the present.

The balance of home and wanderlust is a subject close to his soul and his writing. Sparger’s stretch of asphalt continues to roll across miles and mind as he examines the primeval pull of things known and the electric tug of roads unknown.
