 am here to show you the changed face of domestic violence – the face that cried, the face that saw the death of a loved one; the face that sees the same pain in others;

I am here to show you the other side of domestic violence – the side of healing, contentment, enormous inner strength, empowerment and confidence; the side that stands for something, instead of hiding from everything;

I am here so you can hear the voice of a survivor – the voice that motivates, inspires, and encourages; the voice that no longer uses the word “victim”; the voice that speaks for those who are fearful, the voice for those who have lost their lives because there was no one to protect them; and to keep a promise I made at my daughter’s grave over 20 years ago – that her death would not be in vain.

In 2008, My Life My Soul, The Unspoken Journey of Life After Domestic Abuse, was conceived from not only my personal trauma and loss, but out of my passion to help others, my healing journey, my inner strength to survive and to make the most out of my life.  I wanted to raise awareness about Domestic Violence and Abuse because it knows no age, race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, education or financial status and it destroys the lives of men, women and children around the world.

Our young people are even more vulnerable, and when they are exposed to family violence, the cycle is sure to continue.

Survivors constantly live with the after-effects years after leaving an abusive relationship – re‑occurring trauma, stress, depression, disappointment, re-victimization, lack of support, lack of resources and isolation, just to name a few.

But the healing journey is filled with enlightenment, purpose, constant learning and personal development and a new-found sense of self. When my healing journey began, I wanted others to know how empowering it was to finally leave the trauma behind and that you can still have a rich and fulfilling life after leaving an abusive relationship.

I believe that in order to make domestic violence and abuse a thing of the past, we must first change our perception of it.  As a 23+ year survivor, I have dedicated my  life to making a change by helping others and raising awareness to this social disease that affects the lives of millions of men, women and children worldwide.
