Debi Wilder Author

Although some like to think Ms. Wilder lives what she writes, it’s far from the truth.  She has shelves filled with research books such as Sex Toy Tales, Lip Service, The Academy, which she gets from her sister-in-law from time to time.  Thankfully her husband doesn’t think they have to try everything at least once!

Ms. Wilder loves the freedom that writing erotica brings.  There’s a no holds barred attitude that suits her when her imagination and characters take over and run wild on the pages.  And like her characters, Ms. Wilder believes romance and sex go hand in hand.

Ms. Wilder currently lives a quiet life with her husband nestled deep among the pyramids of Rock Lake.

Interview

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I wear many hats.  I work part-time for a non-profit after having retired from statement government in 2010 and relocating to Oklahoma (don’t miss Wisconsin winter driving at all). I’m married to a crush I had way back in high school...it just took 30 years for us to reconnect. We have four children and two grandchildren.  I write by the seat of my pants (basically no plot outline) and generally don’t have a set time I sit down and write.  My characters have total control of when they have something to tell me. My writing process is puzzling to my husband...but he’s a left brain type of person.

2. Describe your book ‘Human Touch’ in 30 words or less.

Teach me what it’s like to be human.

3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Going through three generations.  It starts in 2499 and follows the three families until approximately 2550, so keeping track of who lives and who dies was tough. As well finding off beat sci-fi terminology that would work.  I got the basis down before Honey Jans added her wonderful touches to it. Human Touch takes the test tube baby theory several steps further.  Sort of like a Stepford Wives theme.

4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?

Honestly I couldn’t tell you. One of my sister-in-laws always had a box of sex books ready for me at Christmas, and they’ve come in handy when doing research.  If I’m looking for something different I grab one and randomly open it, read what’s on the page and if it fits I use that technique.  If not, I move on.  And NO my husband and I do not lie out the lives of my characters. LOL

5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

BookBuzzr of course is one of my venues.  I also post to Facebook, Twitter, and my blog.  As an author you have to talk to people about your books. For example, I get a protein shake each day from a local place here. About a week ago Delilah asked me what I was going to do over the weekend and I told her I had edits. She asked me what for and the conversation lead to her wanting to know where to get my books.  Now I’ve got promo material there as well.  Sometimes you have to think outside your storyland creative box and step back into the real world to talk to people.

6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

My husband and I have three horses now. We don’t spend nearly enough time with them but love it when we do. Of course there’s friends and family, and discovering new places to see in Oklahoma.

7. What are you working on next?

Kandi Kisses...a porn star gone legit...imagine that! It’ll be my first stab at a erotic romance with a suspense twist.  I’ve also got Carnival: The Guardian that has been very silent, which puzzles me. This story is unusual and I really want to finish it...I think it may be the clash between good and evil that is the hard part for me. And my characters haven’t been active, I believe they are planning their battle plans.
