Marcee Bonds

Interview

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I was born in Peoria Illinois. I am the oldest of three and I am a single mother of two boys ages 19 and 3. I graduated from Bradley University and I fell in love with writing while going to college. I have a private library of written poetry and short stories, but this is my first published work.

2. Describe your book A Single Mother's Point of View: Raising A Black Man in 30 words or less.

This book is a resource to help encourage single mothers as they raise black boys to men by sharing tips and insight with the hopes of making the journey more fulfilling.

3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?

The hardest part about writing this book was trying to keep the book short and to the point. I know that single mothers don't have a lot of time to read and I want them to be able to finish my book.

4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?

I have been influenced by every book I have read, it is hard for me to pick just a few.

5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

Right now I mainly use social media, Facebook, Twitter and BookBuzzr, along with word of mouth.

6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

I love traveling, spending time with my youngest son and my family.  I enjoy bowling and going to the movies, basically anything fun and relaxing.

7. What are you working on next?

Right now I am working on promoting my current book and I am planning on writing another book for single mothers in the fall of 2015.
