Author Mario D. King is an author/poet from Memphis, Tennessee. King has recently released his debut novel, The Crisis Before Midlife, through his publishing company MDK Books. MDK Books LLC is dedicated to providing inspiring, socially –conscious, uplifting, and motivating works through creative arts. His novels will focus on real-life situations as it relates to the urban community.

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I'm a passionate person who is in the midst of realizing my purpose. My passion has always been to uplift and to further advance our culture. As a man I still battle with that internal struggle of search for truth. Writing is my outlet. I will continue to uplift minds through word.

2. Describe your book The Crisis Before Midlife in 30 words or less.

The Crisis Before Midlife is about the journey of a single-dad who is dealing with the complexity of life altering decisions in the midst of trying to find peace within himself.

3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Writing the book wasn't hard. The hard work is the process after the book has been written.

4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?

I'm an avid reader of social and political books. The autobiography of Malcolm X and Profiles of Great Black Americans had the greatest influence on me.

5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

To market my books I utilize social media, local events, and word of mouth.

6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

When I'm not writing I'm thinking and strategizing of my next move. Outside of that, I spend time with family and friends.

7. What are you working on next?

I'm in the process of working on a non-fiction book that will touch on the social-ills that is continuing to plague the Black community.
