Jacqi Thornborrow

I am quite an out there kind of girl. I am a qualified Ambulance officer (which I do voluntarily), a full time primary teacher, teaching 5-7 years olds, I am an author of a fantastic book. My hobbies are reading, riding my horses, kayaking and having duvet days. People consider me obsessive as once I get an idea I tend to obsess and run with it. I am out going and out outrageous.

Interview

Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am a Yorkshire lass through to the bone living a great life in New Zealand. I am a teacher of 6 year olds in a small school. I am a volunteer ambulance officer for my community. I am voice for animals in need of help. I have many pets. I have 3 horses one I have raised from birth and trained myself. I wrote this book because of many observations of how things have happened for me or to me and noticed how things don't happen the same for others who want to be more than they are.

Describe your book ‘Be Forty and Fabulously Naughty’ in 30 words or less.

My book is a collection of life's observations about why life is like it is and how women should stand up and say " No I want to be this " or " do it this way " etc. It is based on the basic elements of life that can make a huge difference to the woman you are. It is funny witty but inspirational.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Sitting down and writing it was the easy part. Selling it and getting the word out is so hard. People who read it love it. They thank me for writing it. Getting out there and not feeling embarrassed about selling it. That is the hardest part.

What books have had the greatest influence on you?

I am an avid reader and read many things biographies, horror, adventure. However the book Empty Cradles was the first book I read that made the hair stand up on end. It is an amazing true story of loss and discovery.

Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

I have so far made myself known on the Internet with a large Internet presence. I created a website, author fan page and bookbuzzr, word of mouth. It is not as easy as it sounds selling a book.

How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

Ride my horses or my motorbike, walking. But my favorite thing to do is sky diving. I want to do it at every opportunity.

What are you working on next?

I have books in my head about when you are a teen, in your thirties and fifties etc. 2 to be written 3 working on ideas.
