Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am an Englishman living in Scotland. Semi-retired after a career in IT. I now work part time in a local supermarket. I enjoy cooking, gardening, reading, walking, and, of course, writing. I have wanted to write for as long as I can remember, but, for a long time, I could never find the necessary inspiration. As it turned out, the inspiration was there all the time, but I needed to reach middle age before I realised it.

Describe your book ‘Curly and Tubs and the Galloping Rot’ in 30 words or less.

A fantasy adventure involving the love of books and nature, born out of childhood memories, imagination, and a lot of wishful thinking.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

Apart from it taking the best part of 50 years to write, there was no hardship in the writing. It's the marketing that I find so difficult.

What books have had the greatest influence on you?

In chronological order, Jennings and Derbyshire, Lord of the Flies, Lord of the Rings, It.

Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

Very little. The idea of knocking on the right doors and making a nuisance of myself fills me with dread. I'm a writer not a salesman.

What are you working on next?

A sequel to Curly and Tubs is 75% complete. I have also completed another novel called 'More than a hutch'. It is the autobiography of a pet rabbit. Not much of a story there you might think, but, then, you haven't met Robbie Bobtail yet.
