Vincent Gilvarry

I am an Australian and the author of five books which may seem as if they are simple adventures on the surface, but they are not. They are riddled with humour, fun, fascination and intrigue and who knows what else. The world has changed and it is really is time for people to step up and tell their version of their story.

Interview

1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am an Australian and live in an international tourist city in north Queensland. My original areas of interests were the visual arts, but not anymore. My life changed one day in the year 2000 and not knowing what else to do I sat down at my computer and started writing. I have been doing that ever since and have now completed five books in the series known as The Gods of Space and Time.

2. Describe your book THE LAST DAYS OF LEMURIA in 30 words or less.

In an effort to save the life of a 7 year old boy, the central character of this story, Yumi Master Addric Sharano becomes involved in a war of independence, two weeks before Lemuria is destroyed by a natural catastrophe.

3. What was the hardest part of writing your book?

This was the easiest book I have ever written. The idea just popped into my head and I sat down and wrote it in four weeks. The hardest part is the editing and proofreading and eliminating all of the mistakes before publication. They’re not really mistakes…I call them oversights…those annoying little things that you do not notice as you are writing.

4. What books have had the greatest influence on you?

I particularly like stories that are engaging, no matter what the genre. If I cannot get past the first chapter of a book, it is assigned to the dustbin of history, but the one book that I love and re-read every few years is a novel by Noah Gordon called The Physician.

5. Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

I have tried most of the marketing options available on the internet and they don’t always work out because the online book publishing business is massive and unfortunately one little book competing for visibility against 20 million other books has a very hard time being noticed.

6. How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

I do casual work as a teacher, I am a movie fan, but like the books that I read, the movies I prefer have to be engaging and entertaining.

7. What are you working on next?

My current project is book number five in the series of the Gods of Space and Time and is called Instant Karma.
The year is 2032. The people of Planet Earth have become so obsessed with technology and electronic devices that they have become alienated from the most essential element of their being.
A directive from the highest of all celestial realms has decreed that in its current status, Project Earth is not meeting the requirements expected of an evolving species and as a consequence, it is about to be terminated.
With the full support of the Intergalactic Alliance, Yumi Master, Addric Sharano is assigned the task of dragging the people of Earth back from the brink and if he cannot do so within a period of 90 days, the worst of all possible scenarios will be activated.
Under normal circumstances, Addric is forbidden by his Yumi vows from interfering in the future of Planet Earth, but for this particular situation, his vows are suspended. In book five of the Gods of Space and Time, Instant Karma, Addric gets an opportunity to reveal even more of his hidden talents, but his solution to a very difficult problem is typically Addric, imaginative and brilliant. The people of Planet Earth are about to find out just who Addric is and just what he is capable of doing.
