Description

Fantasy Impromptu is erotica. It's magical. It's musical. Chantal is a writer of erotica who is forced to face her worst nightmare. A fan of her novels kidnaps her and holds her on a remote island. The mysterious Bran becomes both tormentor and mentor, and perhaps something more than human. One by one, he leads her to enact scenes from her novels. Scenes she would never actually do, scenes that terrify her, scenes that could lead to the emergence of her true sensual nature.

Editorial Review of the Paperback Edition of Fantasy Impromptu

As fine a piece of erotica as I've read,... Fantasy Impromptu compares favorably to Anne Rice's erotic fiction in many ways; indeed, in my opinion Carole Remy's prose surpasses it in terms of accessibility, bypassing Rice's flowery style in favor of a clear, direct voice which does not get in the way of the story's telling.

The author's honest voice gives us entry not only to Chantal's thoughts but also the myriad emotions she experiences as the willing subject of Bran's "lessons". Ms. Remy lets us experience without unnecessary adornment Chantal's delicious suffering during her punishments; in one chapter we feel her anticipatory dread before each of the twelve consecutive 2:00 PM appointments in Bran's library (the nearly day-long knot in Chantal's stomach resulting from her anticipation of the very last appointment is a study in the effective superiority of dread over actual pain in S&M play).

There is real craft here, a real story - not just the detached voyeurism of most erotic fiction. We see Chantal as she enters Bran's realm of pain and pleasure, a neophyte riddled with insecurity and self-doubt; we experience her journey of self-discovery, and we revel in her completeness when she does emerge - whole, self-possessed...and ravenous for more.

I am fortunate to have been one of the first to read an advance copy of Fantasy Impromptu prior to its publication; doubly fortunate to have met its lovely author at my bookstore as she promoted it. I am grateful for both.

Let Carole Remy share Chantal's journey with you...I have no doubt that you'll enjoy it.
