Amazon: This is a great story to read aloud. Children love rhymes! I also love the charming pictures. A really cute story The Heebie Jeebies is a delightful little book that is perfect for dads and granddads to read to children. Every church nursery should have a copy. The rhyme is captivating and borders on genius. The book is short and since children like to hear stories over and over, many will have it memorized quickly. In addition to writing, the author Carol Dolson, also has a passion for everything UGA and could be called the FIRST LADY of Bulldog fame Georgia fans...take note! Picture a classroom of 4year olds, reading their newest book, eagerly awaiting the turning of the next page of The Heebie Jeebies, caught up in the melodic rhythm and totally engaged. It doesn't get any better than that. Carol Bland Dolson has done it again! If you haven't read "The Heebie Jeebies" to your children, I recommend that you do it soon. First of all it makes the mother a hero as she helps her son get over worrisome, bothersome things. But second, children respond to the rhymes. Carol Dolson creates rhythm with words, no kidding. This little book packs a big wallop, and it's loads of fun. Watch your children start making Heebie Jeebie rhymes of their own. It was a lucky day for me and the children I read to when I discovered "The Heebie Jeebies." I was not familiar with the phrase, but it is a perfect expression for the daily problems experienced by this little boy. Children responded immediately to the rhymes and rhythm of the story. One little boy said "This sounds like rap-" Would the writer appreciate that? If not, I feel sure she would appreciate that the children were even clapping to the musical words in her story. This is a refreshing, stimulating book for young children.
