Description

Emma Compton grows up trying to understand how to get her father's love. She only seems capable of angering him. The older she gets, the further she seems to be from him. Colby Compton loves his family. And, he provides them with a very comfortable life. He has worked very hard for many years and has had to endure a lot of time away from them in the process. He is very much in love with his wife. And loves all 4 of his children. His 2 older daughters are great sources of pride for him. His 2 younger children are twins. Ethan and Emma. He is incredibly close to his only son. His relationship with Emma is strained to say the least. Emma tries hard to be the good girl her mother and father wants her to be. The harder she tries, the worse things become. In high school, her brother's friends take notice of a very pretty Emma. She grows into a beautiful but very shy young lady. Having live a sheltered life, she is too trusting of her brother's best friends and ends up hurt very badly. Emma faces challenges that no child should ever face. Bad decisions by multiple people impact her life. Love is what moves the world. It is what every person craves. Is love enough to overcome a lifetime of hurt and pain?

The story Little Girl started out as just a story bouncing around in my head for quite awhile. It seemed like a strange story idea considering the subject matter of the story. I decided to start writing the story down. Mainly for myself. I had no idea of actually publishing. As I wrote, the story grew. The characters grew. And the more I wrote, the more I began to care about my main character, Emma Compton. There are several places in the story that I was bawling my eyes out while writing. I was having very real emotions for this girl! I hope that as you read Little Girl you too will become emotional about the story and the characters. I hope to someday be able to speak out against child abuse, and rape, and bullying so that maybe I can help someone who is a victim of these awful things!

I just finished reading this book. It's very well written and you feel all the emotions that all the characters in the book feel. At the end I was crying, not because of sadness but because Emma finally found someone who genuinely loved her. Great job Amanda! I look forward to reading more books written by you.
