"Prieto's new king cake book is creating quite a stir." -New Orleans Times-Picayune "Delightful and sharply illustrated book." -Greenwood (MS) Commonwealth When Timmy receives an invitation to his friend Adam's king cake party, he doesn't quite understand what it means. Timmy and his family have just moved to New Orleans, and he's mystified by the tradition Adam describes, especially the plastic baby baked inside the cake. Timmy's wonder grows as Adam tells him about the purple, green, and gold icing and the hole in the center of the cake. His anticipation heightens when he finds out that girls are invited to the party! At first, Timmy worries about finding the baby inside of his piece of cake, but he slowly becomes excited about the party and begins to hope for the plastic baby. The day of the party arrives, and Timmy must confront his fears about meeting girls and seeing his first king cake. But Adam and his friends are there to welcome him to the Mardi Gras tradition and to give him a New Orleans experience he will never forget. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Anita C.
