In this superbly compiled mixture of mystery, suspense, and adventure Glenn Stuart takes us back to the dreadful events in March 1941 when the March Blitz on Merseyside wiped out the lives of the soldiers sheltering in an underground tunnel.
Some years later, upon accidentally discovering the tunnel,
our protagonist, Ben, sets out to explore and uncover the secrets it
holds; and so begins a series of unusual and spine-chilling adventures.
Determined to leave no stone unturned in his quest, he takes
along a few of his pals, amongst whom
is his adversary, Neville, who is equally determined to deter
and torture him every step of the way.
As the tale unfolds the paranormal takes precedence with the appearance of the ghosts of the men who died that day in tragic circumstances, and as they linger on unsettled and disturbed, a series of weird and haunting events begin to emerge. Surprises abound and eerie happenings begin to encompass our hero as heretofore undisclosed truths are revealed; all leading up to a surprising and very satisfactory ending.
The Author has spun his tale of Darley Dene with dexterity in this sometimes quite emotional journey back into the past, and produced a compulsively readable story, centred around a small array of splendidly described characters in a totally believable yet highly imaginative read.
