His wife Mariana, a Colombian citizen, also influenceshis writing through her life experiences and heritage.

Story Behind The Book

John Boyd fans are already hooked by international thrillers. Now Boyd introduces Denver Noles, a Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor winner, with a major hole in his life. One way out When Denver Noles inherits half an island in the Florida Keys after the death of his Uncle Harry, he decides to leave the Navy and change his lifestyle. After converting his uncle’s house into a bar, he recruits a couple of other SEALS to run it, the marina and the boat yard. Then one day, an employee asks for his help. No way out Her only daughter was kidnapped by Mexico’s largest cartel, she tells him. Denver and his buddies head to Mexico to find the girl but get caught up in a conspiracy that puts them in a struggle for their lives between Mexico’s two most dangerous cartels. The only way out Denver knows they must go on the offensive to save the girl and her family and themselves. Their hunt takes them to the coast near Cancun and eventually to a daring rescue in the Caribbean, where Denver must explore his own demons. He must do this before he can save anyone, let alone risk his heart to fall in love once more.
