In my extensive career as a traumapsychologist I discovered that when ego or personality was stripped away, mypatients had a unique opportunity to recover a truer and authentic self. Inmost cases, I observed them establish a relationship with soul, spirit, and egothat were aligned with their heart’s desire. I call this process mediating within or finding one’s place of compromise. The result for my patients was a moremeaningful life and choices that were purposeful and goal-oriented. In my twenty-five+years of working with severe trauma patients, I ultimately developed apsychospiritual understanding of that which divides us all: self-judgment. Ifound that those willing to explore and heal this division internally discovera broader and more compassionate view of the self. The result was forgivenessand a personal freedom to simply BE. <p><strong><em>A tragic warrior lost in two worlds... Which one will he choose?</em></strong></p><p>The war in Iraq ended for Freddie when an IED explosion left his mind and body shattered. Once a skilled gamer as well as a capable soldier, he's now a broken warrior, emerging from a medically induced coma to discover he's inhabiting two separate realities.</p><p>The first is his waking world of pain, family trials, and remorse—and slow rehabilitation through the tender care of Becky, his physical therapist. The second is a dark fantasy realm of quests, demons, and magic, which Freddie enters when he sleeps. The lines soon blur for Freddie, not just caught between two worlds, but lost within himself.</p><p>Is he Lieutenant Freddie Williams, a leader of men, a proud officer in the US Army who has suffered such egregious injury and loss? Or is he Frederick, Prince of Stormwind, who must make sense of his horrific visions in order to save his embattled kingdom from the monstrous Horde, his only solace the beautiful gardener, Rebecca, whose gentle words calm the storms in his soul.</p><p>In the conscious world, the severely wounded vet faces a strangely similar and equally perilous mission to that of the prince—a journey along a dark road, haunted by demons of guilt and memory. Story Behind The Book
In my career, I have been intimately involved with the recovery of six thousand severely disabled patients.
We call people who travel in outer space astronauts. It seems we have no name for those who have traveled through inner space. Philosophy and spiritual teachers call inner space ‘…the road less traveled.’ Ironically, it is the only road I know. Now that I have returned to the surface, it is my desire to share with the world the depth of my findings.
If I were returning from outer space, I could show you pictures of the rings of Saturn. Or, a picture of the blue marble we call earth standing on the moon. Most will never know that inner space is equally as beautiful, compelling, and mysterious. The answers it provides about love, suffering, happiness, purpose, why, are all profound! It is my passion to share with the world the clarity of these experiences through my writings and teachings.
