Story Behind The Book

I gleaned my inspiration from the book's setting. The island, mentioned in the book, was the site of a Civil War Battery during the Battle of Mobile Bay. In the 60's a hermit named, Battleship Pete, lived on it. I felt this setting, along with an interesting history, would make a fascinating story.
