About

Award-winning author Hank Quense lives in Bergenfield, NJ with his wife Pat. They have two daughters and five grandchildren. He writes humorous fantasy and scifi stories. On occasion, he also writes an article on fiction writing or book marketing but says that writing nonfiction is like work while writing fiction is fun. A member of the Science Fiction Writers of America, he refuses to write serious genre fiction saying there is enough of that on the front page of any daily newspaper and on the evening TV news.

He has three collections of short stories and four novels currently available. He has written a series of guides on fiction writing and another one on self-publishing and marketing a book. He also lectures on fiction writing and self-publishing.

Hank has initiated a series of lectures and workshops to share his expertise in creating fiction and publishing books. Create A Short Story is a 4-session workshop in which the participants design their own short story. He also gives a two-part seminar on Self-publishing & Marketing a self-published book.

Description

FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES

At barely nineteen, Angelica Donovan became one of the more successful winners of the T.V. show Our Next Super Model. The world assumed she was destined for a happy, fairy tale life as ‘Angel,’ the beautiful girl who was living the dream; sadly, that wasn’t to be the case. As the years passed, she flashed her million dollar smile to all her fans and fought to stay on top in a profession where you never knew who it was safe to trust while the fashion industry took big bites out of her heart and soul. And trust was a constant challenge for Angel due to the painful childhood secret she guarded as carefully as she did her heart. As a result, she never did find her true love on earth.

When she wakes up ‘dead’ from a heart condition a month before her thirty-fifth birthday, Angel is at first relieved to find there is no death, just a change of state, like ice to water, and then she’s scared because her biggest and most important adventure is about to begin.

Angelica is chosen to be an angel in training as a spirit guide for three souls on earth! Her assignment is to help two women to gain the courage and confidence to find, recognize and embrace the love that had eluded Angel in life. But her biggest challenge will be to save a very special little girl from the same evil experience that had poisoned Angel’s own earthly happiness and altered the course of her life.

Will Angel be able to heal her own shattered soul in the process? And will the three souls she is guiding be able to recognize her, not as a ghostly threat, but as one of those ‘friends in high places’ we all have; the kind who often end up earning their wings.

Story Behind The Book

I had a few reasons for writing these ebooks. First, I have a lot of experience in writing and publishing. I’m not an expert, but I do have experience. I belong to a few writers groups and I’ve seen first-hand the confusion and erroneous information that exists about self-publishing. The same situation exists when it comes to marketing the self-publishing book, but to a much greater degree. Hence, there is a need for series of books on these topics. I’ve attempted to provide an orderly, easy to follow process that smooths the path to a successful book launch and a profitable marketing plan. A second reason for writing these books comes from my experiences in running into scam artists who try to rip off inexperienced authors. I’ve lost money on a few occasions. Hence, I have taken on a challenge to protect writers from the Internet thieves who prey on new authors. My method of protecting these writers is to arm them with facts. I’ve learned that the more authors know about the dual processes of self-publishing and self-marketing, the less likely they are to fall for the ingenious schemes of the scam artists.

As a beginning indie writer, I found the information to be incredibly valuable. Quense not only takes you step-by-step through the marketing process, he also gives good advice about marketing so that you are not needlessly throwing your money away. This book also makes you think about your book as a product. Being a writer, I never really considered that what I’m doing is creating a product to sell and developing a brand. Building a strategy is paramount to being a successful writer. Marketing Plans for Self-Publish Books answered many of the questions I had about marketing my work.
