I am a mom of four, wife, author, writer, reader, reviewer, friend, sister, aunt, daughter...well, you get the picture. I am many things to many people. Just like most people I am trying to find a balance with it all and keep some of my sanity : )

This coloring book version of the best-selling “whine-stopper” children’s story was designed for kids to enjoy reading the rhyming, as well as being able to illustrate their own version of Peter’s nocturnal adventure into the woods.

Peter’s mother warns him that if he doesn’t stop whining and crying, he’ll have to go live with the Whimper-Whineys. His adventure continues as he later hops into the woods and finds lots of frightening Whimper-Whineymen! He discovers that the Whimper-Whineys are very ill-mannered and rude, and that everything is sour in Whimper-Whineland. He decides his mother was right. If only he can get back home!

According to a recent critique, “I cannot imagine any parent or guardian not wanting to read this book to their child! ... Parents everywhere applaud you!”

I was so excited and honored to see my story published, but what makes it even more special is my teenage son painted the picture that was used for my book cover. He is a talented artist and I am so proud to share this accomplishment with him. And yes, he does get a percentage of my earnings :) Then I take it back for room and board. Not really, but I should.
Here are a few notable reviews:

The truth is sometimes silenced for simplicity, but sometimes you simply must find it out. "The Truth Lies in the Dark" tells of orphaned Amanda. Raised by her grandparents, her family history is told to her in ways she doesn't quite believe. Her recurring nightmares are her only clue as she begins to dig into her family's history and starts to find things that her family would rather she didn't. "The Truth Lies in the Dark" is a novel of deeply hidden skeletons in the closet, making for riveting reading. ~Midwest Book Review

"This freshman author has offered up an account of what happens when life is not what it seems. Readers are quickly pulled into the tale, which moves at a good pace." ~Hartford Magazine (Feb. 2009, Vol. VII, No.2, Pg. 27)

"...it was a great read, really kept me turning the pages, well written, good character development and nice twist at the end. Overall.... yes, I would recommend the book especially for a weekend out of town/vacation or beach read." ~radio personality Joan Dylan, WRCH 100.5 (Jan. 2009)

"The truth truly lies in the dark in Callender's well-written page-turner, guaranteed to keep the reader on the edge of the seat and guessing to the last page. Well done, Ms Callender, more books please." ~Pat Elliott from BookLoons (Dec.2008)

More review cans be found on author's website:
http://sites.google.com/site/kristincallenderbooks/

and on author's Amazon home page:
http://www.amazon.com/Truth-Lies-Dark-Kristin-Callender/dp/1604520140
