About

I can put together a lesbian erotica at the drop of a dime, but ask me to write an autobiography and my mind goes completely blank. So, here goes...

I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. That's right, the Big Easy or the bathtub, whichever you prefer. Anyways, when I was born, Mercy Hospital was still called Mercy, so I've got a few years under my belt. At the age of 5, my family moved to sunny South Florida. I spent the next 27 years baking in the sun and enjoying the constant, predictable weather.

As a teenager, I caused my share of trouble, which I will not go into here. Needless to say, when I turned 18, I came out to my friends and family. I'll never forget that day, either. My picture was plastered on the front page of the Miami Herald's Sunday edition. For those of you who don't know what the Miami Herald is, it's only the largest newspaper in South Florida and my picture took up half the front page. Woohoo! My first fifteen minutes of fame.

I've had my share of relationships, some were good and some were downright wrong. At the age of 32, a mutual friend introduced me to my current partner, who lived in Texas. We seemed to hit it off, even though she spoke with a funny accent. She returned to Texas and I followed her. We've been together 13 years now and I wouldn't trade a single day of it. We don't have kids even though we both want them. What we do have is 3 cats who are highly opinionated, and 2 huge, loveable dogs.

I never said, oh geez, when I grow up, I want to be a writer. No, that didn't happen to me. What did happen was that imagination side-swiped me one day and an erotic story complete with characters, consumed every bit of my waking moments. To get it out of my head, I put it on paper, smart huh? Well, that's what started my writing career. I successfully have 3 published ebooks, The Hightower Series, and I'm working on the forth.

My stories center on Izzy and Tamara, both vampires and both very sexy, but deadly. It's full of hot, explicit love scenes between them and sometimes- other partners. A lot of people have asked me if I tend to write from experience, my answer is yes, and no. Yes, because I write lesbian erotica and I'm a lesbian, duh. No, because I'm not a vampire although some days, I wish I was.

Well, there you have it, my life in a nutshell. Of course, I left stuff out...I already share my dirty mind with you; I can't very well go sharing my dirty laundry, too!

Toodles :)

Description

The absorbing, definitive account of CrossFit's origins, its explosive grassroots growth, and its emergence as a global phenomenon.

One of the most illuminating books ever on a sports subculture, Learning to Breathe Fire combines vivid sports writing with a thoughtful meditation on what it means to be human. In the book, veteran journalist J.C. Herz explains the science of maximum effort, why the modern gym fails an obese society, and the psychic rewards of ending up on the floor feeling as though you're about to die.

The story traces CrossFit’s rise, from a single underground gym in Santa Cruz to its adoption as the workout of choice for elite special forces, firefighters and cops, to its popularity as the go-to fitness routine for regular Joes and Janes. Especially riveting is Herz’s description of The CrossFit Games, which begin as an informal throw-down on a California ranch and evolve into a televised global proving ground for the fittest men and women on Earth, as well as hundreds of thousands of lesser mortals.

In her portrayal of the sport's star athletes, its passionate coaches and its “chief armorer,” Rogue Fitness, Herz powerfully evokes the uniqueness of a fitness culture that cultivates primal fierceness in average people. And in the shared ordeal of an all-consuming workout, she unearths the ritual intensity that's been with us since humans invented sports, showing us how, on a deep level, we're all tribal hunters and first responders, waiting for the signal to go all-out.

Story Behind The Book

I can’t believe I fell in love with a vampire! Oh, not just any vampire, but Tamara Hightower, Master of the East Coast, whose name and reputation quakes fear in every other vampire, not to mention a few Counsel members that crossed her path. Can this modern day relationship between a half-witch and a vampire work out or am I just fooling myself? No doubt, she stole my heart, but can I command her pleasures?

Reviews

FOR THE LOVE OF BLOOD by Annie Alverez is an interesting beginning of what appears to be a longer story. An F/F story that was a quick read. Izzy is a young woman who has had to deal with adversity. The death of her parents and the shuffling through foster homes due to mysterious power that seems out of control. Finally taken in by the Katz’s, a couple, she finally found a home. Being witches themselves they recognize that she is a half witch. They teach her about all kinds of supernatural things.

Unbelieving of them, she strikes out on her own. Within a short time she comes to understand that what they tried to teach her was all true. She is attacked by a vampire and rescued by another vampire. The female vampire, Kaley, takes her in, gives her a job feeding vampires and a home. Izzy is content. However soon she is asked to feed Kaley’s sister, Tamara. The woman is known as the peacekeeper. Not because she negotiates with them but because she kills them. Izzy is afraid at first but soon realizes there is something more to her. Thus begins their relationship. As well as a hint of something more.

Filled with a world that is rich in various sects and peoples, I was a little disappointed that there was not as much world building that went on. It was only when I went back and re-read the beginning that I understood that this was just the first in what I hope will be many layers in her stories. The characters were interesting and I would like the chance to get to know them better. I enjoyed this book and the characters in it. I look forward to more from Annie Alvarez in this series.

http://loveromancesandmore.blogspot.com/2009/08/for-love-of-blood-by-annie-alvarez.html
