About

Born in October, 1964, Dave Bricker is professor of graphic design at an Arts University in Miami, Florida where he lives with his wife and daughter. In his design studio founded in 1995, he produces rich, experiential websites that are “a little different,” and provides marketing consultation to clients with vision, integrity and excellent offerings.

An avid guitar player with a minor in jazz guitar, he has worked with some of the World’s premier instrument makers, and through these associations, has had the unique opportunity to develop instruments that combine his loves of design and music.

A fan of adventure and travel, he began living aboard cruising sailboats at the age of 18, spent several years solo cruising in the Bahamas during the late 1980s, and crossed the Atlantic on a wooden yawl in 1991. During these voyages, he encountered some of the unusual people, places and circumstances that color his stories.

Bricker writes, produces and designs his own books and publishes them through his own Essential Absurdities Press. He has expanded EAP’s offerings to assist other independent writers.

Current projects include “Waves,” a continuation of the story of the protagonist from his first novel, “The Dance,” who sails from Florida to the Caribbean on a cruising trimaran, a memoir of his own sailing experiences and an electronic book conceived to painlessly teach left-brain programming skills to right-brained artists.

<p>Sayetta is an archangel who has been sent into the physical world to seek out eight archangels who have been reborn into the world. She knows that she cannot do it in the form of an angel so she takes on a human form to move through among us in the physical world. Gabe a mortal has the soul of a warrior angel. He is reborn in physical form to prepare for her coming. He is born with abilities that he is unaware he has.</p><p>All of his life Gabe had been having dreams of a ruined church. He never knew the name of the church, but the dream was always the same. In the dream, he was standing facing the ruins of the church. But he didn’t look like a human. Instead, he was an angel with pure white wings and a golden countenance. Another much larger angel appeared to him. The angel pointed towards what was left of the door and said “Enter, your journey has just begun and your guide awaits you.</p><p>Sayetta finds out from Archangel Michael that Lucifer has sent an old demon to find and stop Auriel from removing the demons he has imprisoned in the earth.</p><p>They receive a little help from the Archangels Azuriel and Gabriel as they journey to locate Auriel. It’s a race to find Auriel before the demon does. In the end, it’s a battle between two powerful beings, one good and one evil.</p>

Story Behind The Book

Dave Bricker’s first novel, The Dance, is a joyful, sexy, humorous and provocative excursion that leaves few traditions unquestioned as its unusual cast of characters brazenly steals a peek under the skirts of life’s magic to revel in its mystery. Hanns is a restless engineer, photographer and film-maker ready for his next adventure. Tino is a brilliant painter and flamenco guitarist. Anna is an uninhibited dressmaker and chocolatier who delights in life’s absurdities. Antonio is an amateur bullfighter determined to prove himself in the ring. When inexplicable circumstances bring them together, they are catapulted off on a whimsical expedition to Southern Spain to create a documentary film and search for a magic guitar. Along with Kalimba; the son of an African witch doctor and a Christian missionary, the unlikely group journeys to music shops, island anchorages, gypsy camps, bull rings and bedrooms to discover the rules for breaking the rules.
