Award-winning author Hank Quense lives in Bergenfield, NJ with his wife Pat. They have two daughters and five grandchildren. He writes humorous fantasy and scifi stories. On occasion, he also writes an article on fiction writing or book marketing but says that writing nonfiction is like work while writing fiction is fun. A member of the Science Fiction Writers of America, he refuses to write serious genre fiction saying there is enough of that on the front page of any daily newspaper and on the evening TV news.
He has three collections of short stories and four novels currently available. He has written a series of guides on fiction writing and another one on self-publishing and marketing a book. He also lectures on fiction writing and self-publishing.
Hank has initiated a series of lectures and workshops to share his expertise in creating fiction and publishing books. Create A Short Story is a 4-session workshop in which the participants design their own short story. He also gives a two-part seminar on Self-publishing & Marketing a self-published book.
He has a number of links where you can follow his work and his occasional rants:

Henry had no intention of taking the crown for himself; it was given to him by popular acclaim. Alas, it didn't take long to realize that that having the kingship was much less rewarding than striving for it. Only three months after his coronation, Henry IV had to face a rebellion led by Richard's disgruntled favorites. Repressive measures led to more discontent. His own supporters turned against him, demanding more than he could give. The haughty Percies precipitated the Battle of Shrewsbury which nearly cost him the throne—and his life.
To make matters worse, even after Richard II's funeral, the deposed monarch was rumored to be in Scotland, planning his return. The king just wouldn't stay down and malcontents wanted him back.

I've written a number of short stories and a few novellas that took place in my fantasy land that I called Gundaralnd. All of these stories took place in a medieval setting. One day, I was thinking about changing the setting to something more modern, like the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. I came up some with criteria like steam engines, pollution, telegraph, democracy in its infancy. While I was working on these settings, I had a great idea; aliens discover Gundarland and try to fleece what they see as unsophisticated natives. This scenario led me to have a great deal of fun writing the story.

Prepare to fly through a sci-fi world filled with slimy Zaftans, clever Yuks, a perky Pink Dragon Puppy, and many other colorful characters. Hank Quense's creativity is limitless! This story is filled with action, romance, and Quense's trademark unique, satirical wit. You will laugh out loud at lines such as, "Dwarf romance was fraught with peril because both males and females had beards." Hank Quense has painted yet another vibrant world of fun and fantasy that will entice and entertain any reader who values his artistic gift.
Lynn Coyle

==========================

After reading Tales From Gundarland, I thought Author Hank Quense was all out of imagination but, he seems to have an imagination that is non-stop. I have no idea as to where he comes up with some of his descriptions of his characters. Zaftans are huge squid-like creatures with nasty dispositions. A pink dragon pup (accidentally generated by an unknown magical process) runs around the Presidential Palace. Nut-busters are dwarf warriors armed with a two-foot long helmet spike. Other unusual characters are too many to list.

Hank Quense is full of funny stories! As I said when I read Tales From Gundarland, this book would make a wonderful series of movies. I'm sure I have not done justice to this book. It is impossible to describe the antics going on from each side of situation. This is a must read book. You'll be glad you did.
