About

Cynthia resides in Orlando, Florida, the land of magic, surrounded by the treasured gems in her life, a caring, loving husband, dutifuland loyal daughter, and precious, delightful granddaughter. Oh and not toforget her mischievous Yorkshire Terrier, Thumper.

Cynthia was a “Navy Brat” calling a different port homeevery couple of years—from Southern California, to Boston, to Virginia, toFlorida. She developed wandering feet and diverse interests and passionatelyincorporates those experiences into her stories, bringing characters to life, and eloquently sharing the vivid images of her mind with her audience.

Cynthia worked as a real estate broker for over twenty yearsbefore retiring to Florida. Until recently, then she turned to writing tostretch her creative muscle. Those ideas of faraway places and quirkycharacters lay dormant for years and finally demanded their story be told.

Cynthia plans on putting some mileage on those wanderingfeet and travel to exotic locations in the coming years. So look for thejourneys to be expressed in RomanticWords by Cynthia in the future.

Description

A mythical jewel of a story… A true story told on a beach in Yucatan, A Shadow tells Stephanie's story but it was also the story of the golden time. Its nostalgia sings like cicadas in the heat.

An American ‘Under Milkwood’, this distilled novel of the Sixties evokes the sounds, music and optimism on the free-wheelin streets and parks of Coconut Grove. You can hear Bob Dylan still strumming acoustic; smoke a joint with Fred Neil; and Everybody’s Talkin is carried on the wind.

Stephanie, a young hairdresser living in lodgings finds herself pregnant. Refused help from her hard Catholic mother in New York, unable to abort her baby, she accepts the kindness of Miriam, her Jewish landlady, whose own barren life spills into compassionate assistance for the daughter she never had.

The poignancy of its ending, its generosity and acceptance, echoes the bitter disappointment of those of us who hoped for so much more, but who remember its joy, and its promise, as though untarnished by time.

Story Behind The Book

My husband and I co-authored and our inspiration was our "Little Dude" named Thumper. He became the "Precious" character of the book. Since Mike, my husband, is from New Orleans, the main setting took place there.
