Kimberly Wiefling, Executive Editor of the Scrappy About Series, is aproven expert in enabling people to achieve what seems impossible, but ismerely difficult. She is the author of one of the top project management booksin the US,"ScrappyProject Management: The 12 Predictable and Avoidable Pitfalls Every ProjectFaces, a book growing in popularity around the world, and recentlypublished in Japanese by Nikkei Business Press.

 

She founded WieflingConsulting, LLC, a global leadership and business management consulting firm,in 2001. She currently spends about half of her time working withhigh-potential leaders in Japanese companies as the Executive Director for ALCEducation’s Global Management Consulting Group, an organization based in Tokyo,Japan. Her work includes facilitating leadership, communication, teamwork,innovation and execution excellence workshops to enable Japanese companies tosolve global problems profitably.

 

A physicist byeducation, Kimberly began her professional career with 10 years at HP inproduct development, project management and engineering leadership. She spentfive years in the wild and wacky world of Silicon Valley startups, including aXerox Parc spinoff where she was the VP of Program Management. In 2001, sherose from the ashes of the dot-com bust, launched her consulting practice, andnever looked back. In typical Silicon Valley style, Kimberly has helped tostart, run and grow about a dozen small businesses. Several of the startupsthat she co-founded are still in business and profitable.

 

Kimberly's clientsinclude companies like Cisco Systems, Symantec, Intuit, HP, AgilentTechnologies, Mazda, Daiichi Sankyo, Dow Corning Toray, Mitsubishi HeavyIndustries, the University of California, the Institute of TranspersonalPsychology, Siemens, Hitachi, Alcoa, Xerox PARC, NECsoft, NTT DoCoMo, and manymore. Nearly 6000 people have viewed the hysterical videodocumenting the final phase of completing her first book. Kimberly iscontributing to making the world a better place in a number of ways. She's theco-founder of the Open Kilowatt Institute (OKI) and the co-chair of the SDForumEngineering Leadership Special Interest Group (EL SIG). She's supportingmicro-finance for entrepreneurs throughout the world via Kiva, and she supportsthe economic independence of women in various ways because she believes thatthis is the most effective way to raise the quality of life for all people.
