Susan Bainbridge was raised in North Bay, Ontario, Canada and currently lives in the UAE, where she teaches at a technology college. Over the past fifteen years, Susan has lived in the Yukon, Japan, Korea and the Middle East, and has drawn on her many experiences for the inspiration behind Hoarfrost and Cherry Blossoms.

"Growing up in Northern Canada not only offered me extensive winter experiences, but also, I think the Northern Ontario sense of humour adds a very distinctive flavour to my writing."
