         Bornand raised in the Philippines, Olivia Villa-Real wrote The Velvet Thorn—a novel that poignantly depicts thesensitivity and unique sentiment of the Asian culture. Musically impassioned,she is a concert artist, singer, pianist and composer.  With the publication of The Velvet Thorn, she has completed thefirst part of a trilogy. She is now currently working on the second part, The Stirrings of the Heart, which is aclassical recording of her piano and vocal compositions, expected for releasein 2012. The third in her trilogy is a collection of verse and prose poetryentitled Murm’rings of the Heart, andis expected to be published in late 2012.Currently, she also has a line of English and ethnic greeting cardspublished by her own company, CreativeSpectrum Publishers. She is a member of the American Society of Composers,Authors and Publishers, the Screen Actors Guild, the American Guild of VarietyArtists, The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, and the MusicTeachers Association of California. She now lives with her husband andmaintains The Olivia Villa-Real Schoolof Music in Eagle Rock, Los Angeles, California.
