Vincent Meis grew up in Decatur,Illinois and graduated from Tulane University. He received a Masters inPsychology from Lone Mountain College and a Masters in English from SanFrancisco State University. Since 1991 he has taught at City College of SanFrancisco and from 1999-2009 was the editor of the faculty newsletter, Union Action, which has won numerousawards in statewide competitions, both for his articles and general excellence.He currently resides in the Mission District of San Francisco.  Over the years he has published anumber of pieces, mostly travel articles, but also a few poems and bookreviews, in publications such as, The Advocate, LA Weekly, In Style,and Our World. In recent years he has finished three novels and a numberof short stories. All three novels are set at least partially in foreigncountries—Cuba, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. His experience living in thosecountries gives his books an authentic feel. His novel, Down in Cuba,was a semi-finalist in the 2006 QueerLit Project. An excerpt from thenovel, “All in the Cuban Family” was a finalist in a Glimmer Train PressContest in 2007. Several of his short stories have been published in onlinemagazines.
