Dvora Swickle (D. A. Johnson) lives in thequaint fishing village of Gig Harbor, Washington, where the grass is green,trees are tall, and animals roam free. Dvora has entertained children for overtwenty years. She has written over forty stories, and is the author of twopoetry collections, Dress Up (availablein paperback) and an ebook, Kittywampus. Dvora encourages young children to developa life-long love for language and reading. She believes that poetry can play abig role in motivating children to read. "Poetryhelps young readers understand language, words and feelings through rhythm andrhyme.

Dvora believes that experience is the giftof learning; all children should live bully free, and learn confidence in theirown special ways. Her stories are a lovely reading experience with the gift ofa life message inside for the children.

As a children’s storyteller, Dvora enjoysreading to children, she puts fun voices to her characters, and invites the childrento take part. Every time she reads SweetGreen Grass children are encouraged to raise their hands, ask questions,and become a part of the story.

Dvora drove school bus for ten years, andnow works with special needs children. She is devoted to helping students ages18 to 21 to transition from high school into the work community and independentliving.
