Just a Season - a must read novel

Just a Season is a luminous story into the life of a man who, in themidst of pain and loss, journeys back in time to reexamine all theimportant people, circumstances, and intellectual fervor thatcontributed to the richness of his life. “Just a Season” is not a storythat you will read rather it is one that you will live. This is notHis-Story, it is our story that reflects the audacity of hope and willmost assuredly touch every emotion as you travel through time relivinga life through the eyes of the character.

This fictionalnarrative begins with a grief-stricken father visiting the grave siteof his beloved son who was killed in a tragic accident; a moment thathe and no other loving parent should ever have to face. As he sadlygazes at his son's headstone and reads what is inscribed there, thedates 1981 - 2001 bring about an illuminating discovery.

Thetiny dash that separates the years of one's birth and death representsthe whole of a person's life. So if this tiny dash were to tell hislife's story, what would it say? In Just a Season, the dash of thisman's life is revealed and what emerges from the pages of this book isa legacy of true benevolence and grace.

"Not since The Color Purplehave I read a book that evoked such emotions. John T. Wills possessesthe ability to transport the reader directly into the life andstruggles of his main characters story. I was educated in a way thatdid not afford me the benefit of truly understanding the significanceof the historical events taught from a stand alone perspective. Thisbook actually touched my heart and inspired me to increase the equityin my "dash"!

I would like to see this book added to historycurriculums as mandatory reading so that our youth can have a trueunderstanding of how they've come to be where they are. The gift ofthis knowledge will surely inspire them to reach for the stars and feelconfident that they are capable of overcoming any adversity. Excellent-- Tonja Covington
