The Story Behind This Book
From the Author
I want to stress this is a work of fiction and we have played with source myths and legends to fold them into a story that while we hope is entertaining--also contains something we believe strongly in and hope will resonate with all who read this book. We need to cherish and protect our world's living treasures--animals and plant life. We have lost so many and so much through ignorance (which is understandable, to a degree) and greed (which is unconscionable). We must do better and eliminate both.
The illustrations in this book, by William Watts of Windward Design, are actual prototype planning drawings for the construction of a real place and facilities. Since these are actual large-scale drawings readers are not going to be able to read the small print and some of the legends on some of the pictures. We invite you to go to either the ArkWatch or Adducent websites (to see larger color versions of these drawings.
Our plan is to build a real Serpentauria; a special place where best practices are used to protect animals and educate people about conservancy and the study of nature. Answers to some of our most challenging health issues can be found in nature. Studies and research that largely go unknown to most of the world are making tremendous strides in this--we just need to do more.
The ArkWatch Academy mission you'll read about at the end of this book is real. It is something we believe in and will work to manifest and promote to the world. There is magic in all of us: humans, animals and plants. We just need to believe and nurture it for all to share in the wonders our world contains.
Certain ideas presented here about Paleo-DNA, the genetic material of extinct animals, were first articulated by Charles Pellegrino, based on the research from of George O. Poinar Jr. and Roberta Hess, who formed the Extinct DNA Study Group in Berkeley, California.
Again, this book is entirely fiction and the views expressed herein are our own.

Sure to become a family
classic, March 21, 2012
My wife and I read to our
daughter twice a day, once after lunch and once at bed time. It is surprising
how fast we fly through the books, and over time it can get expensive. Lately we
have been resorting to buying inexpensive ebooks to read her, and although many
turn out disappointing, sometimes you find a diamond in the rough. This is one
of those times. This book is amazing, really. A lot of these reviews just do not
give it justice. There are so many aspects of it to comment on, but the main way
I can prove this book's worth to you is with this - My daughter wants us to read
through it over again although we just finished it! There are very few books she
has wanted us to read again, heck.. most of the books we have read her from the
kindle are so short or generic she can't remember them completely. Not here. The
story of eleven year old Sara and her quest to not only save endangered animals,
but restore life to animals man have hunted to extinction is very
remember-able.
As far as the writing itself, it is very good. The
vocabulary is what you would assume for kids and teens, nothing vulgar/dirty,
easy to understand, and reads aloud well. The story is definitely a unique one.
As I have said, we have probably read her hundreds of books and no story was
even similar in plot. One exceptionally great thing about this book is how Sara
(and even her parents) are good role models. It is sad but a lot of books really
have main characters that are terrible to look up to. (Take the travesty of
Twilight etc, not reading her that..)
And for the story itself, well I
don't want to give any twists or anything away, and you can see what the book is
about by checking out the book description up top or trying the free preview. I
will say that the author does a great job mixing together fact and fiction, and
intertwining science and mysticism. I may have enjoyed the book just as much if
not more than our daughter, hehe.

I wonder why I have not seen
this novel of fantasy in the movies or on TV, reminds me of that movie for
children and the young lion and the evil witch. However, unlike most of these
novels that has a touch of Serpenturia fantasy mixed with reality. In our days,
who does not know that many animals have disappeared because of human or some
catastrophe. Today there are many animals in extension and if many of us had the
gold medallion rid us or saving of these endangered animals from certain death.
The book has a lot of fantasy but is not very far from reality. Looking forward
you can see it on TV or in movies.

Serpentauria: Ark of Extinction
is a thrilling ride though the life and adventure of a little girl, Sarah, who
has a heart of gold and a love for animals. I bought this book based on the
incredible reviews, and I can say that I was not disappointed whatsoever. The
story was unique and I don't find many books these days that are written so
well, so detailed, yet easy to follow and easy to read. It captured my attention
from the prologue and kept me entertained to the last page! I borrowed the book
out to my cousin and he loved it, and asked for his own copy to read it again!
As everyone else has said, this movie is going to be amazing! I can't wait! I
can't wait to read more from these authors either. Wonderful job, you've gained
two more fans!

endangered animals, March 20, 2012
Since I read the Pillars of the
Earth by Ken Follett had not enjoyed so much reading a book. Sara is a girl of
11 years dedicated to caring for animals and to cure those animals that are
injured, how to cure it naturally, accidentally discovers the cure animals are
in danger of extinction from here begins the real argument of the book. Chapters
filled fantasy plot and unprecedented quality, written in natural language
understandable for children with middle-aged adults. My congratulations to the
author.

tale of adventure!, March 20, 2012
What an amazing story this one
was. The originality was amazing and unlike any story I've ever read. The
authors did an amazing job of bringing you right into this story. I felt like I
knew Sarah and her family from the very beginning and I loved the adventure that
I was taken on while reading this book. It's a young adult book, but it's more
than that! Wonderful story for even the younger reader just as well as the older
ones. I can't wait to see the movie come out for this one!! Best thing I've read
in a very, very long time!
With that said, this one is HIGHLY recommended. I
only with I could give it more than 5 stars.

nice, top 5, March 20, 2012
This type of reading I love,
suspense, intrigue, a fantasy story that is very close to reality. It is a book
that helps you know and love nature and everything around you, excellent account
of the chapters. It keeps you alert and in my case I read the book almost in one
go. I gave it to my wife for our anniversary but I finished reading it, the
initial synopsis intrigued me enough to embark on reading. From one end of the
world to another masterfully combines enough detail to create a fantasy that
leaf by leaf, going chapter to getting inside the characters being the end of
them, top 5, five stars.

Fantasy Story For All Ages, March 17, 2012
"Serpentuaria: Ark of
Extinction" is a powerful fantasy story for young people and families to learn
more about nature, science and the world around them. As we follow the
protagonist Sara in her adventures, we find a young girl learning more about the
need to take care of the environment and the world around her. There is a
balance to life and Sara learns that she must fight for what she believes in.
This book is full of suspenseful moments, action and magic and that is something
that appeals to young readers as well as those of us who are young at heart. The
story is chock full of references to modern-day science, as well as ancient
history and mythologies. This is a great way to learn more about the past as
well as to learn lessons about the future. This book is definitely worth a read
and the excitement will keep you on the edge of your seat.

It's been a while since I've
last read something original. These days, most fiction you find has something to
do with vampires. I'm not saying that's a bad thing but it's quite refreshing to
read something different. Serpentauria really hits the spot! Also there's a very
fine line of fact and fiction in here. By the time you're done reading, you're
gonna be looking for more books of this genre. Now I'm waiting for Serpentauria
to hit the theaters.
