That morning when I walked into the police station I was a frightened Amish girl with nowhere to go. I had a second-grade education and no form of Identification. I had just been sexually assaulted and threatened by the bishop of my Amish church.

For 14 years I had been held prisoner and violently abused at the hands of my non-Amish parents.Even though I was not born Amish my parents had dressed and lived like them most of my life. In my late teens, they feared I would escape and took me to an Amish community where I became a baptized member. It was all I new. Now I feared for my life. Amish rapists do not fear jail because going to the police is forbidden. I knew I would be shunned and had nowhere to go. My mouth felt dry and my entire body shook violently. What was I going to do?I knew nothing about the outside world... Based on the authors tragic true life story.
