About

My name is Myra Ahmad. I like to pretend that I am a writer. I write poems and books. Mostly I rant.

When I was in grade 7, I started writing poems and a novel in English. When I was in grade 9th, I became published. My novel The Gasp is a tragedy-thriller mixture, while My Passions holds my poems.

I am interested in reading, writing, drawing and experimenting with stuff that you are not supposed to experiment with. I draw cartoons mostly, or make crafts from stuff. Graphics Designing is an interest that still requires some skills.

I work as an editor and columnist at Shashca – Youth Ka Newspaper, an online newspaper run by the youth of Pakistan. It’s the world’s first newspaper in slang language and Roman Urdu script.

I am also a part of hitRECord, an independent production company directed by actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt where I am a writer, illustrator and REmixer.

I am a Pre-Med by occupation.

Description

Harold Godwineson, the Last Anglo-Saxon King, owed everything to his father. Who was this Godwine, first Earl of Wessex and known as the Kingmaker? Was he an unscrupulous schemer, using King and Witan to gain power? Or was he the greatest of all Saxon Earls, protector of the English against the hated Normans? The answer depends on who you ask. He was befriended by the Danes, raised up by Canute the Great, given an Earldom and a wife from the highest Danish ranks. He sired nine children, among them four Earls, a Queen and a future King. Along with his power came a struggle to keep his enemies at bay, and Godwine's best efforts were brought down by the misdeeds of his eldest son Swegn. Although he became father-in-law to a reluctant Edward the Confessor, his fortunes dwindled as the Normans gained prominence at court. Driven into exile, Godwine regathered his forces and came back even stronger, only to discover that his second son Harold was destined to surpass him in renown and glory.

Story Behind The Book

The author says "I wrote this story as a short story. But people liked it so much that I have to prolong it. Finally it turned into the novella it is today" She further added "Encouragement is everything. A little encouragement and appreciation turned a short story into a novella."
