In 8th grade, author Jolea M. Harrison was required to writea 5-page essay on a person from history that she admired. She wrote 40, got anA and her teacher, Mrs. Miller was so impressed, gave her extra, extra credit.After reading The Lord of the Rings, the fantasy bug bit, which was thencomplicated by her immediate love of Star Wars and other works of sciencefiction. Not paying attention to genre barriers, Ms. Harrison set out to writethe story she wanted to, combining these two genres in an enticing and uniqueway, producing eight novels in the Guardians of the Word series. The firstbook, Chosen, was recently published to excellent 5 star reviews. The secondbook, Myth has just been released this November. Telepath is on track torelease early February. The remaining Legend, Union, Adept, Seer, and King willbe released over the next two years.
Her other interests are teaching in the field of specialeducation, and maintaining her Civil War era home. On a recent fact findingmission about the house, she discovered the name of a young soldier who died therewhile being cared for by the doctor who owned the house at the time. She hastwo children who firmly believe in ghosts.

Chosen is the first book of the series, Guardians of the Word, but ended up being the last book written! An unexpected twist in the plot cropped up in King, the 8th book, which in turn informed the author of the true beginning of the story and proved the theory that sometimes characters have a mind and will of their own.
