Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, Englandis the birth place of new writer Edward Johns, currently working as part of theflight crew with an Airline based in Northern Ireland.
Having long-held ambitions to become a writer, for manyyears Mr. Johns was unable to come up with the right type of ideas for hisnovels, but in 2006 inspiration finally came to him and he began writing whatwas intended to be the first book of a Trilogy entitled “Race for FlugalFarm”. It was a story based around theEquestrian scene and, whilst writing this, for some obscure reason the idea foranother novel came into his head and so he transferred his attentions to whathas now become his debut novel “Murdo”. His writing favours the pre to earlyteen market and, set against a backdrop of kidnapping, this first publicationcentres around the heart-warming bond formed between a young girl and a ratheramazing dog.
I addition to his passion for writing the Author tells usthat he likes nothing more than to spend his spare time outdoors on the GolfCourse. He takes a keen interest in avariety of other sports, and in addition enjoys travelling (as indicated by hischoice of career), together with live theatre, movies and cuisine.
Having now had his first book published the Author has currentlyreverted back to his original manuscript, and we look forward to seeing thefirst of his Trilogy come out in the not too distant future.

A mythical jewel of a story… A true story told on a beach in Yucatan, A Shadow tells Stephanie's story but it was also the story of the golden time. Its nostalgia sings like cicadas in the heat.

An American ‘Under Milkwood’, this distilled novel of the Sixties evokes the sounds, music and optimism on the free-wheelin streets and parks of Coconut Grove. You can hear Bob Dylan still strumming acoustic; smoke a joint with Fred Neil; and Everybody’s Talkin is carried on the wind.

Stephanie, a young hairdresser living in lodgings finds herself pregnant. Refused help from her hard Catholic mother in New York, unable to abort her baby, she accepts the kindness of Miriam, her Jewish landlady, whose own barren life spills into compassionate assistance for the daughter she never had.

The poignancy of its ending, its generosity and acceptance, echoes the bitter disappointment of those of us who hoped for so much more, but who remember its joy, and its promise, as though untarnished by time.

Murdo was written for my 12 year-old daughter who is an avid dog lover. She asked me to write an adventure story where the dog is the hero.
