Description

Have you ever awoken from a vivid dream and wondered which side of waking was real?

Burt Higgins' retirement is not going well. His children have grown, and his wife has gone off to earn a late-life degree, leaving him alone in his sprawling suburban home. With too much time on his hands, he broods on the state of the world, obsessively following the worst of cable news and the Internet. Increasingly angry at the state of affairs, he nurtures a fantasy that a dark lord from another realm has foisted these problems on humankind. If only he could transport to that world, he'd confront the demon and use the magic found there to defeat the beast and end despair forever.

On a particularly bad news day, while housebound in the midst of a snowstorm, he retreats to his study to shut out the world and immerse himself in his books. When, on a whim, he lights a candle purchased in an obscure Prague curiosity shop, a magical guide appears and offers to take him on whatever quest he chooses. When he asks to become a hero in a fantasy realm, he discovers a more complex world than he expected, and battling evil with magic turns out to be far from his greatest challenge.

EVOLVED PUBLISHING PRESENTS a specualtive fantasy adventure sure not just to entertain you, but to make you consider your life, your dreams, your goals. Story Behind The Book

From the writer of the heartwarming and inspirational ebook "The Little Boy and the Sea", comes a dark and haunting novel for the Kindle and print with "Exodus: A Requiem for Jacob Forlorn". A tale of love, lust, betrayal and vengeance. What happens when everything you've worked for and sacrificed for is suddenly taken away from you? What happens when the greatest love you've ever known isn't what it seems? What happens when your most loyal childhood friends and family pass away? What happens when one man takes a fateful journey between love and hate, light and darkness...Heaven and Hell? Jacob Forlorn is a beleaguered everyman escaping from the shadows of a bitter and broken past to find his place in life when he meets Miranda, a beautiful and mysterious woman with a past of her own. Drawn by love at first sight, a whirlwind romance brimming with intense passion ensues, culminating in the birth of a beautiful child. But all is not well in paradise. Against the remains of a hidden past, something dark and deadly emerges, threatening to either warn Jacob or rob him of both his heart and his sanity. Jealousy, resentment and deception emerge, soon forming a deadly web of intrigue, lust and secrecy which all have repercussions far beyond anything he ever imagined. As dark visions and nightmares haunt him repeatedly, Jacob soon begins to walk a very fine line between right and wrong, against a backdrop of misery and death that pushes him to the limits of his faith in God. Someone...or something is after him. The secrets of the past begin to destroy him both physically and spiritually, forcing him to make a dangerous choice. Love. Lust. Betrayal. Vengeance. It all comes to an end and something has to give. The journey to Hell and back has now begun.

You walk away from this book feeling as if you have gone through these hellish experiences yourself.

It is simple for an author to suck you into a heart warming moment of joy, love and smiles, we want to feel that way. We will go willingly down that kind of a road an author leads you down. However it is considerably harder for an author to make a reader empathize with feelings of betrayal, heartache and loneliness in quite the eloquent way Lazarus Infinity has managed in Exodus.
I absobuythisbooklutely could not put it down! My prediction is that this will be the last time you will be able to get a novel by Lazarus for less than 4 dollars!!!

-Shana Garcia

Jacob Forlorn is a character you will never forget. This is a story of a man who falls in love, who is then abandoned and betrayed and then goes through what might be the worst self-destruction I have ever read. It rips your heart out and makes you want to ease his pain in some way.

This author writes in a way that hits your heart. He is descriptive and you can close your eyes and imagine yourself in the scene. Good luck putting this book down once you start. I spent two very late nights trying to find a stopping point so I could go to sleep. It’s just a book you need to know how it ends.

-Andrea Emilien
