About

I am an author, registered nurse and cancer survivor (1997). I am also a pastor's wife. I live in the beautiful Eastern Cape of South Africa with Rob, my husband of well over 40 years, a lively Jack Russell terrior who answers to the name of Zoё, and a hyperactive budgie named Sparkie.

In 2012, Strength Renewed, Meditations for Your Journey through Breast Cancer was published by Revell/Baker, and hundreds of my articles and devotionals have been published internationally.

Story Behind The Book

In 1997, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer with spread - and a poor prognosis. As a Christian, a registered nurse, and an avid reader, I searched in vain for a book that would build me up spiritually as well as give me some understanding of what was happening to my body. I kept a journal, and in 2010 I started writing the book I had looked for. I live in South Africa, but I knew the only chance of it getting published was to get it into the hands of an American publisher. But how? Out of the blue, I received miraculous sponsorship that covered all the necessary expenses to get me to the Florida Christian Writers Conference. There I met the acquisition editor for Revell/Baker. Two years later, the book was published. This is God's book!

Shirley Corder has walked that road and emerged changed but stronger. She knows whereof she speaks from both the medical side and the patient side. I intend to obtain multiple copies and pass them out, not only to those dealing with breast cancer, but any kind of cancer. </span><strong><a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/A2F70VZK019PT6/ref=cm_cr_pr_pdp" style="color:rgb(0,153,201);border-bottom-style:dotted;border-bottom-width:1px;border-bottom-color:rgb(0,153,201);font-family:tahoma, geneva;font-size:small;line-height:normal;">Jill Elizabeth Nelson</a></strong><span style="color:rgb(85,85,85);font-family:tahoma, geneva;font-size:12.800000190734863px;line-height:normal;"> </span><span style="font-size:small;color:rgb(0,0,0);font-family:verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;line-height:normal;text-align:center;"> . . . <em>Stolen art.
