About

David Cooper was born and grew up in Darlaston, West Midlands, England. He comes from a working class family. In the mid-1970s he formed a group of people to fight to save his home town and it was known as "The Save Darlaston Campaign."  Following that, he became involved in politics and was elected as a member of Walsall Metropolitan Borough Council for the Short Heath Ward in 1980. He served as a member of the council from 1980 to 1981. In 1988, he moved to Brixham, south Devon where he worked as a care assistant with people with severe learning disabilities and also as a nurse caring for AIDS patients. In 1998, he moved to Guadalajara, Mexico, where he still lives and works as an English teacher. He has been married twice and has a daughter, Faye, by his first marriage. He has 5 other books published on Amazon and is featured in the best Poets and Poems of 2012. He lives with his dog, Chula. In his spare time he likes to walk his dog, travel around Mexico, and watch programs about the paranormal.

Story Behind The Book

Two friends discover that they have AIDS. One of them takes his doctor's advice and survives. The other one, Cisco, won't accept that he is infected. Not responding to his doctor's advice he retreats into his own world of drugs, male prostitution and partying so, tragically, suffers the consequences. Cisco's best friend is frantic with worry, so much so that as a result his own health suffers. A true, and moving story.
