Story Behind The Book

Since the first book of the Reading The Dead series, Sarah Milton has been a depicted as a woman haunted not only by the specter sharing her apartment, but by the ghosts of her troubled past. The death of her mother had a significant impact on her development. Just as important was the presence of Harold Edgar Sands, otherwise known as "The Fancy Dress Killer," for his penchant of dressing his victims in nice outfits and photographing them, post-mortem. From our first introduction to Sarah, we discover that she has a newspaper clipping of his arrest hanging on her wall. One surmises that it's because that was the case that cemented her career... but that's not all there is to the story. In Fidelis In Aeternum, we discover just how deep her trauma with Harry Sands really goes, via flashbacks to her time as a beat cop involved in bringing him to justice, a feat that almost resulted in her demise. This chapter in Sarah Milton's continuing saga is about rising above her past and sets the stage for her uncertain, but hopefully brighter, future. Enjoy!
