About

Got involved with fantasy when comics escorled my imagination. Then, the Oz series by L. Frank Baum, reinforced my retreat into imaginary worlds. While I sometimes read science fictions, I mostly gravitate to fantasy and the paranormal, especially if there's an intriguing mystery involved.

Now, me and my trusty computer, travel through the alternative worlds in my mind: the Far Isles Half-Elven and the people of Andor who are plagued by magic and demons.

Story Behind The Book

Mariah is the flamboyant hero of the Far Isles Half-Elven Rebellion against religious persecution. Renna was her second, the person who stood behind her in battles and, in my later stories, ages much faster than Mariah. I thought who better to illustrate the problems about adjusting to life after the peace treaty, and the story of Renna and her pet pig was born.

I found myself rooting for Renna as she finds herself between a rock and a hard place, and I enjoyed the magical elements of the story. Black Tail, while short on lines, definitely makes her presence known and was probably my favorite supporting character.</div> </div> <div class="clearboth txtsmall gt9 vtStripe"> <div class="fl cmt"><a class="noTextDecoration" href="http://www.amazon.com/review/R20X3GWAZD7JFN/ref=cm_cr_dp_cmt?ie=UTF8&amp;ASIN=B009ST7IAY&amp;channel=detail-glance&amp;nodeID=133140011&amp;store=digital-text#wasThisHelpful">Comment</a> <span class="gry gr4 gl4">|</span> </div> <div class="vt"> <div> <div class="votingPrompt drkgry fl mr6"><strong>Was this review helpful to you?</strong></div> <div class="fl mr6 mtNegative3 votingButtonReviews yesButton"> </div> <div class="fl mtNegative3 votingButtonReviews noButton"> </div> </div> <div class="votingMessage fl mr2"> </div> <div class="clearboth"> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="reviews" style="margin-top:30px;"> <div class="gry txtsmall hlp">2 of 2 people found the following review helpful</div> <div class="clearboth"> </div> <div class="mt4 ttl"><span class="swSprite s_star_5_0" title="5.0 out of 5 stars"><span>5.0 out of 5 stars</span></span> <a class="txtlarge gl3 gr4 reviewTitle valignMiddle" href="http://www.amazon.com/review/R1AV9NNHC3PHOV/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&amp;ASIN=B009ST7IAY&amp;channel=detail-glance&amp;nodeID=133140011&amp;store=digital-text"><strong>One of the best adventures i've read in a long time.</strong></a><span class="gry valignMiddle"> <span class="inlineblock txtsmall">May 6, 2013</span> </span></div> <div class="mt4 ath"><span class="gr10"><span class="txtsmall"><span class="gry">By</span> <a class="noTextDecoration" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/A1J5DFZMRYYHSM/ref=cm_cr_dp_pdp">Jan Heart</a></span> </span></div> <div class="txtsmall mt4 fvavp"><span class="inlineblock formatVariation"><span class="gr3 gry formatKey">Format:</span><span class="formatValue">Kindle Edition</span><span class="gl7 gr7 gry">|</span></span><span class="inlineblock avpOrVine"><span class="orange strong avp">Amazon Verified Purchase</span></span></div> <div class="mt9 reviewText"> <div class="drkgry">I have to admit that Troublesome Neighbours is one of the best adventures i've read in a long time. The plot moves at a good, steady pace and the action scenes are great. The author also does a great job in character development that I can't go into, cause that would spoil the joy of reading the novel. This story is definitely worth the read.<br /> I would recomend this to those who loves a good adventure, as you'll be transfored to a magical world or heroes and elves and all sorts of magical creatures. I can hardly wait tfor the sequel. K. Theodoratus has imagined and created a world where half-elves reside, and are magically gifted. They come from Far Isle and some half-elves are stronger than others in terms of magical ability. Some excel in casting illusions, have a stronger sense of hearing, and have abilities that can help transport freight and people across the country.<br /><br /> So, are you ready to read a book that centers on a heroine that is not the most physically beautiful creature out there, nor does she have the tendency to fall into helpless perils just to get a bit of pity from the reader, then please do read on...<br /><br /> In this story, Lady Renna is a short girl for her age and has a permanent limp due to a bad hip. Most people fail to see beyond her physical disabilities. And when her village is threatened by Lord Gorsfeld's pillaging men, she would rather weave than help to subdue them, even when her more confident friend Mariah urges her to. Will Renna accept responsibility and overcome the political strife that she is trying so hard to avoid? We see that she paves her own path in doing so.</div> <div class="drkgry"> </div> <div class="drkgry"> <div class="mt4 ttl"><span class="swSprite s_star_4_0" title="4.0 out of 5 stars"><span>4.0 out of 5 stars</span></span> <a class="txtlarge gl3 gr4 reviewTitle valignMiddle" href="http://www.amazon.com/review/R1QIROIMPK2O4X/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&amp;ASIN=B009ST7IAY&amp;channel=detail-glance&amp;nodeID=133140011&amp;store=digital-text"><strong>Pigs a good antidote to elves</strong></a><span class="gry valignMiddle"> <span class="inlineblock txtsmall">February 12, 2014</span> </span></div> <div class="mt4 ath"><span class="gr10"><span class="txtsmall"><span class="gry">By</span> <a class="noTextDecoration" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile/A27F4D58VR3VC1/ref=cm_cr_dp_pdp">T. I enjoyed the story. The writing is smooth, although there were a few places where I felt more rigorous editing would have been beneficial. There is obviously a rich backstory to it, but this was well handled and at no time was the reader left wondering who someone was.<br /><br /> I did like the pigs. They gave a lovely down-to-earth flavour to the story, and beautifully offset the air of effete prissiness that, absent efforts to the contrary, always seems to attach to elves, ever since that unfortunate casting of Legolas in the Lord of the Rings films.<br /><br /> I did feel the ending was a little abrupt; a bit more space devoted to the final events would have given a more satisfying conclusion in my opinion.</div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div>
