Onofre Poonin

About

Onofre Poonin (Eufrain) was born in the City of Seven Lakes, Philippines to Filipino parents, grew up in Manila and Laguna, and returned to Quezon province to settle down in 1974. For fifteen years he worked with the U.S. Embassy as Consular Investigator of the Anti-Fraud Unit and became recipient of two Meritorious Honor Awards, one Special Achievement Award, one Adopted Suggestion Award and a Longevity Award for ten years of service. He is a university graduate of Criminology and Law Enforcement, and a Private Investigator alumnus of Penn Foster School, Pennsylvania.
The message by which this book intends to fill is bespoken by its full title. It describes both grace and rage and how the author managed to get back on his feet. The novel takes on a journey of investigation and an avowed loyalty of one of the Consular Investigators of the U.S. Embassy of two and half decades.

Story Behind The Book

Poonin's "Over the Cliff" was inspired by his love of fiction and non-fiction story, exploring how the experiences everyone has been through would affect his future and destiny. In the novel, Investigator Poe has gone through with his entire dangerous investigative assignments but finally finds him caught in the most tragic case of his own life. He met an ill-fated accident in the ravine. Whether by accident or design, his co-investigators benefit the chances of destroying him. He was investigated for an error beyond his control and was eventually dumped for good. He fought it out by all means, even trying to seek aid from his own government, only to find out that his government does not have anything to do with his case. With some of the actions and heartbreaking consequences to appear at the last chapters, this novel is a high-quality best-seller drama and adventure. Reviews

My compliments on the way the story was described, from the first to the last chapters. I was surprised by the loyalty of the main character. Despite being branded a turncoat to his fellow countrymen, he chose to stay honest and loyal to the embassy he served; this can rarely be found from a man of the so-called integrity nowadays. His persistence and dedication gave way to reach his dream even if he faced some obstacles along the way. His enviable rise and his tragic fall highlighted the impact of the scene. Suffering a disheartening defeat at his fight for justice, it paved his way to his faith that God is always there to lend him a helping hand.

The way I read it, this must be a non-fiction novel. A high-quality best-seller drama and adventure. - Thumbs up.
