About

The eldest sibling of both his mother and father, Tavares Boykins Sr. was born in Fort Lauderdale FL, in 1981.  From a very early age he began his passion of reading and writing which eventually blossomed into him becoming a novelist, but not until he had gained the necessary life experience learned through his very own fair share of ups in downs.  Raised both by his mother and grandmother he was always encouraged to, “use his words” which served to only enhance his passion for writing and poetry. By 21 he was already married and raising a family, but with very little assets, and even less money he found himself struggling to make a living and resorted to a life of crime in an effort to simply survive.  Bad associations, and even worse choices landed Tavares in prison in his mid-20’s which is where his craft truly obtained the wings it needed to fly.  Learning to put his thoughts into cohesive and a coherent format resulted in the completion of his first novel “A Perfect Mess” A partial biography of his life and experiences.  But life didn’t imitate art when after he was released from prison, his marriage of close to ten years ended.

Determined to continue to pursue his goals to fruition, and keep the promises he had made to his family, his children, and God, he finally enrolled in college at Liberty University where he majored in Biblical Studies.  Soon thereafter he met his wife and ‘twin flame’ which was key to helping him grow to a level intellectually and physically he had yet to achieve up until that point. Since that time Tavares has started his own publishing company BornKing Publishing, where he specializes in helping incarcerated men and women pursue their goals of becoming published authors, while continuing to work on his own novels.
