About

Kadian Thomas is the author of the Light in the Dark Young Adult trilogy series. Her debut novel Sparks Fly is set to be released in 2017, (June 21st), Lightning and Fire (DATE TBA), and A Flash of Darkness (DATE TBA). Kadian has been living in Mount Vernon, New York for the past five years, but grew up in Jamaica.

Kadian turned to books for entertainment and became an avid reader at an early age, reading all genres of books including romance and fantasy. Kadian started creating stories at a very young age even before she wrote them down on paper; sharing them with her younger sister; Dashana. Growing up it has always been her dream to write and publish a book, though she thought it would have been done through her career. 

Kadian graduated from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica, with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Biology, intent on getting into the field of scientific research. Kadian, however, fell into a different career path. Kadian now writes on her days off and every spare time she gets. When she's not writing, Kadian can be found reading a book or binge-watching TV shows on Netflix and Hulu, also bowling with friends.

<p>The Race for Flugal Farm is the first book in a trilogy that charters the lives and adventures of the inhabitants of the Riding Stables at Flugal Farm.</p><div>Times had been hard for George Flugal and his wife, and this inevitably resulted in him having to sell the majority of the school's horses until he was left its just four: Pogo, Biff, Troy and an ex-racehorse called Chance.</div><div>The horses who along with a young stable hand Rachelle Perkins, a dog named Nugget, a pig called Nigel and an old family friend Uncle Dave, make up the Flugal's extended family.</div><div>When they find themselves facing the possibility of having the farm repossessed by the bank, and bought out by the odious Mr Williams, have to pull together to enter a carriage drive in order to win the prize money and save their way of life.</div>

This enchanting novel is a highly charged, captivating fantasy book that will keep you gripped and intrigued until the very last page. It is a novel that is unique and original in its scope and I have to say this is very refreshing to read as so many fantasy novels appear to be un-original, which in my opinion is disappointing. Some novels, even the best ones on the best seller lists do not manage to do this. Granted, novels get better the majority of the time as the novel progresses but I am a little tired of this and a the usual slow build-up; this is why I was so pleased that the first few sentences of this novel captured and bewildered me. The prose in this novel is visually stunning and so its events played out in my mind as a movie (this is always a sign that the authors writing is incredible!) Her writing is a cocktail of suspense, impeccable character development, original creativity and a compelling plot and structure of the novel. Sparks Fly for me was an experience, it is a novel that is felt in its every moment, every sentence is highly charged and imaginative. This is why Sparks Fly is such a wonderful fantasy novel.
