Have you ever seen a "work of art" worth millions, which looks like something your child just brought home from school?

The dual perspective of "Beauty Is in the Eye of the Beholder" and just a little bit of "The Emperor's New Clothes" is evident in this clever artwork story of a child who paints a fingerpaint print in class and then loses it in the wind on the way home.

Illustrated from the point of view of a child, whose identity is left to the imagination of the reader since all of the illustrations are what the child sees, the fingerpaint print is interpreted by official "judges" as well as by bystanders. Should people be influenced by what others see, or use their own self-esteem to make their own judgments? This coloring book version allows children to illustrate their own version of the book, and even to create a "masterpiece" of their own!

This is the fourth rhyming children's coloring book by this award-winning author, whose other bestselling books include David's ADHD, My Little Angel, The Golden Rule, Mice & Spiders & Webs...Oh My!, Manner-Man, Gimme-Jimmy, The Magic Word, Peter and the Whimper-Whineys and Santa's Birthday Gift.

About The Author: Former teacher Sherrill S. Cannon has won over 100 awards for her previous rhyming books and coloring books, and is also the author of 7 published and internationally performed plays for elementary school children. She has been called "a modern day Dr. Seuss." - GTMA Review

In the midst of the Covid-19 closure, I had plenty of time to go through the photos and documents of my family. I found my grandfather's soldier certificate and the date of his enlistment. While browsing online, I came across a group of relatives of the Israeli POW from WW2. I discovered the name of the unit in which my grandfather served (Port Operation Unit 1039). Interestingly enough, his captain kept a war diary until his capture. Through the stories and the date in the diary, I was able to trace the route that my grandfather took until his capture. All I had left to do, was to dive into the depths of the research and the stories of the prisoners in order to develop the plot of the book. For me it was definitely a real once in a lifetime experience.

Terrific Read!

5 Stars

I have chance to read numerous books and articles about Jewish history but by far this book by Isaac " The Long Way Home from Crete " appears to be the best book , it's captivating, emotional and very inspiring I will certainly recommend it for all readers

5 Stars

Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop!
Reviewed in Canada on March 12, 2021
Verified Purchase
This book beautifully demonstrates the will to survive in the most dire situations. I was so excited to read this, the story of a comfortable life being thrown into turmoil prior to WW2 really hit close to home, and echoed the experience of my family. The way the book also focuses on the wife, and son, is a refreshing point of view, and depicts the equally difficult battles families had to endure, while their patriarch was out fighting the literal ones. Can’t recommend this book enough.

5 stars

A Fantastic Read

Reviewed in Canada on March 15, 2021

Verified Purchase

Incredible Book!
