Steve Bartholomew(called "Bart" by everyone except the IRS) resides in the small townof Lakeport, California. He chose this place to live because, if not the mostbeautiful place in the world, it was the best he had yet seen. He moved thereafter a lifetime spent in big cities, mainly New York and San Francisco. Hedescribes himself as a "recovering social worker." He spent a lot oftime in places like East Harlem and the Tenderloin. One lesson he learned fromthis experience is that there's no such thing as an ordinary person.

He also spends a great deal of time studying history andarcheology, both of which are about people. He was a member of the EpigraphicSociety and had several articles published about ancient artifacts. He's alsoan active member of the Lake County, California Historical Society. Nowadays,he spends his time looking for petroglyphs and studying more history. He hasdiscovered that the most fantastic tales are the ones that really happened.

Description

Peter’s mother warns him that if he doesn’t stop whining and crying, he’ll have to go live with the Whimper-Whineys. His adventure continues as he later hops into the woods and finds lots of frightening Whimper-Whineymen! He discovers that the Whimper-Whineys are very ill-mannered and rude, and that everything is sour in Whimper-Whineland. He decides his mother was right. If only he can get back home!
