About the author
My interest in writing first started off as a hobby, when I was about seven years old. I used to write the shortest stories and then illustrate them with gel pens and put borders around them. Then I'd keep them all in a special file I had for me to look at.
The first book I wrote was Sapphire and Me. I started handwriting it when I was nine years old, constantly adding to the story as time progressed. I finished writing it a year later, when I was ten years old. Then, I decided to type it up for my friends to read. I didn't type it up on MS Word though - I used Powerpoint! I put a couple of paragraphs on each page, and then added clipart to every slide to illustrate what was happening. When I was finished, I started to show it to my teachers, friends and family. I didn't know what to do with it next, so I just printed out a copy for myself.
My second novel, Rose-May, was also handwritten at first. I had no intention of writing it, so during the summer holidays before I progressed to highschool, I started to write Rose-May, making it up as I went along. I handwrote the book when I was eleven years old. I went through endless binders and then put them all together. It took me about half a year to finish. I showed my teachers and friends and they all really liked it. Then, I decided to type it up, making improvements as I went along. It took me about two weeks. When I finished it, I didn't know what to do with that either. I tried sending it out to traditional publishers but they all thought that I was too young to be considered.
I decided to put that aside too and start working on my third novel, Runaway. I could see how my writing was improving the more I did it. Runaway was the story that I most enjoyed writing. I myself found it very moving, but it was also an adventure writing it. It also didn't take me too long to write, either - it took me about a month. When I was done with that, I put that one aside too. I had many other novels planned but also had to focus on my schoolwork, which was very important.
Two years later, when I was thirteen, I started to look for more publishing options. I started searching for self-publishing on Google, and then came across Wordclay publishing. So I put my books on there but with no success. I wasn't getting any attention on that site. Therefore, I removed my books from there and tried out Lulu Publishing. I did manage to sell a few copies there and found the publishing process very fun, but distribution to other stores was just not affordable for me.
I finally came across CreateSpace, and I loved everything about it. I didn't publish my work straightaway, though. I wanted to make some nice cover jackets and I also prepared illustrations for the interior. After all that, I finally released my first three novels, Sapphire and Me, Rose-May and Runaway. I also decided to try out KDP. To see my books in print was such a wonderful feeling.
After another year, I started writing the first book of my werewolf trilogy, which was Rising Fang. It was really fun writing it, and it was also the longest book that I have ever written to date. I was also struggling to find time to write it inbetween school and important exams, but even so, I finished it within a month. I had it proofread and edited and prepared illustrations for that too.
Then, I wrote a book called Shattered in the space of one week, a tale about a girl called Jade who has lost her mother, has a passion for singing and runs away from home after her dad is burned.
Rising Fang's sequel, Revenge of the Wild, was written shortly after Shattered during the NaNoWriMo competition. This was even more fun to write than Book One. I decided to try and send this out to traditional publishers, but again, I was too young to be considered, so I self-published this too. Revenge of the Wild was my sixth novel.
In between these novels, I also published a collection of seven short stories.
I'm now working on three more novels, the last book of the werewolf trilogy (Moon Called), Open My Eyes (a story about a Muslim teen) and Dark Blood (a vampire novel). These may take quite a long time because of school exams, however, they will still be written.
I have recently published my seventh novel, Remember Me, my first ghost story, which I hope you will enjoy whenever you come to read it.
