About the author

I am a daughter, wife, a mother, a sister, a friend and more importantly... a child of GOD. I have served in full-time ministry for 20+ years leading worship, prayer ministry and small groups. I have been blessed to mentor and counsel many who have crossed my path by GOD's grace. I believe in the capacity of every individual to be the very best they can be as they live out a vibrant and thriving relationship with GOD. As you glean from the gifts bestowed on me by the LORD, my hope is that you are encouraged, uplifted and inspired by what I have to share and know that you are so very important to and on the mind of GOD!

A Surviving Faith

Overview

Are struggling in your faith-walk because of being hurt by others? Know that you are not alone. You are very much on the heart of GOD.

As Believers in Christ, we can walk through offense and hurt brought on us by those who we have believed are of the family of GOD and survive. We can also survive not only a bad experience with a member of the church, but also a distressing experience stemming from the actual work and mission mandated by some church organizations.

Church-hurt is real. I cross paths with those often who are no longer a part of a church or may have even departed from their faith-walk because they are wounded and limping through life. For those who have been in cult-like situations, it is much deeper than overcoming offense and moving on. It takes time for them to recover and be restored.

It is my prayer that by reading this book you will find hope and courage that leads you back to a healthy, thriving and vibrant relationship with the One who loves you most. I believe there is no relationship that is more important than the one we have with our Creator and Life-source. It is invaluable and more than worth fighting for.

This book is designed to be a simple tool to help promote YOUR healing and restoration. It is not about what happened to you. My hope is that nestled in these pages, you find at least one thing that you can identify with that starts you on a process to a healthy faith.

Choosing the word SURVIVING as a part of this book's title is significant. The definition of the word survive is this: to remain alive after the cessation of something. To get along or remain healthy, happy, and unaffected despite some occurrence. To endure or live through (an affliction, adversity, misery, etc.).

If you are in survival mode, where you feel your faith is hanging on by a thread, be of good cheer! You are more than a conqueror, an overcomer…You are a SURVIVOR!

Description

This is my story and journey of twenty-plus years serving inside of the Christian church. This book is not meant to give the church a good thrashing or even to criticize the work of those sincerely trying to walk the walk, but who show themselves to be simply human at times. This book is about YOU. It is about your healing and restoration.

It is not meant to be an exhaustive solution but is an attempt to provide some support in an open and transparent way. I once heard someone say, "You may have the same story to share, but no one can tell it exactly like you." I do believe that my unique perspective will speak to some.

This will be an easy read on purpose. I don’t want it to feel heavy or too deep, but light and relatable…welcoming and digestible. His yoke is easy, and His burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30 WEB). I include some scripture because I believe the Word oF GOD is the solid footing for every Believer; however, it’s not designed to be a Bible lesson or training. When my husband and I departed the church, we really didn’t want anything to do with what felt “churchy.” I want to be sensitive to those who are in that exact place right now. Not wanting anything to do with the church is a real experience many have on the path to wholeness, and I believe it is important for you to transition through it peacefully.

So…to my fellow sojourner…who loves GOD with your whole heart, mind, and soul, yet are in need of recovery and restoration because you suffered an injury…you can SURVIVE it!
