Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?

My name is Barbara Smitherman I am a Registered nurse by profession and an ordained minister/ pastor by calling. I am a SANE nurse, a certified Biblical counselor and Bible instructor.  I am married with two grown children and six grandchildren.  I live in McAlester a small town in southeastern Oklahoma.  I love to cook, write, read and work with others to help make their lives more fulfilling.

Describe your book ‘Engaging the Sons of Darkness’ in 30 words or less.

A fictional novel set deep in the Jack Fork Mountains of Oklahoma, were the forces of evil have set up an elaborate operation to take over the entire world.

What was the hardest part of writing your book?

The hardest part for me was not actually writing the book but rather the editing and proof reading of the book.  I wrote the book in only 36 days but it took twice that long with the editing process.

What books have had the greatest influence on you?

Of course the Bible is the one book that has influenced me throughout my life, but there are a variety of others which have helped in the area of influence.  Gone With the Wind has always been my favorite all time book as well as the books of Stephen King and Dean Koontz.

Briefly share with us what you do to market your book?

I have gone on a three state book tour; I utilize the internet and social networking sites as well as speaking engagements to market my book.

How do you spend your time when you are not writing?

Wow that question could take all day to answer.  I am constantly engaged in some form of activity either I am counseling, nursing, attending classes of some sort or ministering/speaking around the area.

What are you working on next?

Right now I am writing a sequel to Engaging the Sons of Darkness that is entitled Yoked by Darkness.  This one is taking a little longer to write but I should have it finished within the next three months.
