He is forced to migrate and ends up in Venezuela where in time he becomes an extremely rich person. After several years he finds that its impossible for him to establish other relationships because he is still in love with that beautiful girl he left behind in San Juan. He then returns to Puerto Rico to find out that the United States had invaded the Island and now controls government. From that moment on one of the most beautiful love stories ever written starts to develop between the girl, now a widow of the Hispanoamerican War which little by little falls in love with him.
