About
A former Californian, I have been living for the past five years in beautiful North Idaho with my husband and teenage son. I love to – not necessarily in this order! - write; kayak; walk my dog; cuddle with my cat; read voraciously; cook; eat; travel; talk with my wonderful son; spend time with my parents, my sister and her family; watch movies; get together with my writing group; and go to B & B’s with my husband. Since graduating from the University of California, Davis with a B.A. in History, I have worked as a secretary, a magazine editor, a winery tour guide, an English as a Second Language instructor, and currently as an elementary school reading teacher and freelance writer.
My Christian historical romance, “The Silver and the Cross” (Comfort Publishing) is available on-line through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Borders Books, and will be in bookstores on April 1, 2010. My non-fiction articles have appeared in many magazines, including: “Country Woman”, “Back Home”, “Northwest Travel”, “Northwest Woman”, “Backroads Motorcycling”, “Sandpoint Magazine”, “A Small Farmer’s Journal”, and others.
I have recently finished writing another historical Christian romance called “Violet’s Victory”. Additionally, I’m writing a YA fantasy, an adult fantasy, and another historical romance.
Description

When Jessica Bryant pesters her wealthy parents to allow her to have a dog as a pet, the answer is a resounding "No"; but they soon come to regret their decision when thier home is broken into one evening whilst they are out and their daughter kidnapped and held for ransom. The kidnappers, in the form of four seedy and incompetent characters wearing Disneyland-type masks, take her hostage and keep her incarcerated in a place from which there appears to be no escape. However, they reckon without the resourcefulness of our heroine, and the courage of a wonderful stray dog who comes to her aid and whom she names 'Murdo'. And so begins an exciting and humurous accounting of the couples' adventures together as they consistently foil and outwit the abductors whilst on the run together.
This is a lovely story of the friendship between a girl and a dog, bringing out themes of responsibility, camaraderie, redemption, salvation and self-sacrifice. It includes some wonderful dialogue sequences as Jessica teaches her new four-legged friend how to communicate with her, with additional delightful conversations between the animals when a rabbit and a sparrow join forces with them in an effort to outwit the kidnappers and restore Jessica safely back to her parents' home.

Story Behind The Book
I fell in love with the charming historical silver-mining town of Wallace, north Idaho, and knew I wanted to write a series of books set in Wallace, in different time periods. This was my first romance, published in April, 2010. "Violet's Victory", not yet published, is my second, and the third book, to be set in 1910, is a work in progress.
