Wade McCoy, MD is a familypractice physician at Gilbert Medical Center in Bethany, Oklahoma. He met Dr.Kirkland in 1986 in an Introduction to Biology class at Southwestern OklahomaState University. Dr. McCoy is from rural Reydon, Oklahoma, a town of less than200 people. He currently lives in Oklahoma City with his wife, Sarah, and theirtwo daughters.  “Rainbow in theDark” is McCoy's debut novel.

<p><strong><em>A tragic warrior lost in two worlds... Which one will he choose?</em></strong></p><p>The war in Iraq ended for Freddie when an IED explosion left his mind and body shattered. Or is he Frederick, Prince of Stormwind, who must make sense of his horrific visions in order to save his embattled kingdom from the monstrous Horde, his only solace the beautiful gardener, Rebecca, whose gentle words calm the storms in his soul.</p><p>In the conscious world, the severely wounded vet faces a strangely similar and equally perilous mission to that of the prince—a journey along a dark road, haunted by demons of guilt and memory. Can he let patient, loving Becky into his damaged and shuttered heart? It may be his only way back from Hell.</p>

Story Behind The Book

The author was inspired to go to medical school by his college professor, Dr. Henry Kirkland, Jr. The conversations between the two lead to this book. The book is the story of a young African American man overcoming many obstacles to become a celebrated professor.

Having done that I can only say that I can see why this book is so amazing. A story about a man who overlooked what was acceptable in his time and did his own thing and the outcome of those whose lives he touched. I love wandering around downtown Atoka in my job and picturing the places within the pages of this book. It's better than a history book that can sometimes be drab because the storyline jumps out and drags you in. I read it in a day while doing housework (yeah more reading than housework)and couldn't put it down. I am an avid reader and love being able to share great books with friends and family and this is one that has been and will continue to be shared with my fellow book lovers. ~CS AMS</div>
